About the New England Barns Collection
"I am forever fascinated by old barns," says Mathios. "A native New Englander, I was saddened to have to tear down a decrepit old barn in Chester, New Hampshire some years ago to house my studio. Thousands are destroyed each year throughout the USA. I never turn down an opportunity to record a venerable old barn which has helped the overworked farmer to shelter his animals and implements. There is a perpetual twilight around barns, a pause in time and motion that reminds one of the old farmer, hunkered down, recovering his strength to move on to another day."
* Inspired by the works of international photographer Dieter Stark.
Acrylic paintings from the New England Barns collection are available as prints in the following paper or canvas sizes: 8 1/2 x 11, 11 x 14, 16 x 20, 18 x 24, 24 x 36, and note cards
